How much does it cost?
Checking your flight with FlightOwed is free, and FlightOwed never charges you. You can then claim directly with the airline for free, or use a claims company. Claims companies work on a no-win, no-fee basis: you pay nothing upfront, and their fee (from about 25% of the compensation, up to 50% if the claim has to go to court) is only deducted if your claim succeeds. We compare each company's real fees and point you to the best-value option for your case.
How long does it take?
The check takes 30 seconds. Airlines that accept a claim often pay within a few weeks. If the claim goes to an enforcement body or to court, it can take several months.
Which flights qualify?
Any flight departing from an EU airport, or arriving at an EU airport on an EU-based airline, that was delayed 3+ hours or cancelled with less than 14 days' notice. Flights departing the UK fall under UK261, which mirrors EC 261 with £220, £350 or £520.
Can I claim for old flights?
Usually, yes. The time limit depends on the country where you bring the claim, and it differs between countries. In Portugal, claim within 3 years of the flight to be safe; in Belgium you have only 1 year. Enter your flight details and we'll check.
What do I need to provide?
